Youth on Mission

In June the student ministry embarked on our annual Summer Mission Trip.  This year we returned to Asheville, NC.  These trips are always a great adventure full of fun and challenge.  We work hard and play hard on the trips as we further bond together as a student ministry group.

This year we went white water rafting on the French-Broad river, enjoyed a day at Dollywood in Tennessee and had a blast during a field day event on the grounds of the property we were housed at.  We even had a 75 foot slip in slide to splish and splash down!

While on mission, our group continued working with the Western Carolina Rescue Ministry.  This ministry works hard to help provide meals to the homeless population of Asheville.  They have also created a new program where homeless, pregnant woman can receive housing and medical care.  Mothers can live in the facility as they try to establish themselves to be able to live on their own with their child.  It is so neat to see how God has used this mission to bring the hope of Christ to so many hurting people in the Asheville area.

We also served at the Veteran’s Restoration Quarters.  This ministry has purchased an old motel building and houses homeless veteran men.  However, they do not just house and feed these men, they guide them through a program aimed at getting them fully integrated back into society.  They have an 86% success rate at leading these veteran men to full recovery after their 2 year program.  What an honor it was to be able to serve alongside this ministry as we shared the Love of Christ with our great veterans.

Trips like this can be expensive and exhausting!  But it is most certainly worth all the cost and chaos as we lead students into a deeper relationship with other Christians, and most importantly, with their Creator.

So, THANK YOU CHURCH FAMILY!!!  Thank you for the support you give this ministry.  Thank you for the financial support, the prayers and encouragement as we love the students that God has brought our way and as we point them toward our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!
