Men’s Monday Feb. 4, 2019

From what or who are you fearful? If we are honest with ourselves, the list can be quite extensive. There was a time that I was afraid of dying. Every little pain I had, my brain turned into the end of my days. Panic attacks and anxiety were issues that I dealt with all of the time. I tried a variety of medications, therapy and of course many unnecessary trips to the doctor. As it turns out, all I needed was Jesus. Once I accepted Him into my life and began to walk His walk, I was able to find peace and rest in Him when those panic attacks started; they were very short lived at that point. Occasionally, I will still have anxiety but these days my prayer is simply this when my brain irrationally heads down that path: Lord Jesus, if it is my time to come home, bring me home; if not, be rid of this anxiety and let me get on with my day. NO MORE ANXIETY ISSUES!!!   In essence, this is what Chuck relayed to us yesterday. He showed us the 3 main categories in which fear falls: DIFFICULTY, DEATH and DESTINY. In all three cases, Jesus is the solution. What DIFFICULTY has Jesus faced that He did not conquer? NONE! “Fear not, I am the first and the last…” (Rev. 1:17). Have you suffered the cross? What could be more difficult?   Jesus has conquered the grave and therefore DEATH. There is no other belief system, no other religion, no other world perspective where a god has conquered the grave, NOT ONE! Except for our God! “I have the keys to Death and Hades.” (Rev. 18) Praise the Lord. Finally, the fear of our DESTINY, our future. Jesus already knows the outcome. He is the past, the present and the future. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” (John 1:1)   So, from what or who are you fearful that Jesus has not already conquered? Nothing, notta, zip, zilch, doesn’t exist. Grab onto that and do not let go! Stand on that firm Foundation and lead. Stand on the firm Foundation and pray. Stand on the firm Foundation and KNOW that you KNOW that this world has nothing that God cannot handle. Glory be to Him.   Continue to be in prayer for Leon, Matthew and may I add David Hurt to the top of our collective lists. We celebrate the continued healing process of both Leon and Matthew and we lift David as he looks to Jesus for answers with respect to his dad’s health.   This Wednesday nights discussion, maybe, will be on Chapter 7 of John Eldredge’s book Wild at Heart. Also, be reminded of our upcoming Bon Fire next Saturday night at 6:30pm up at Terry Cotney’s place, 598 Holland’s Landing Road, Prosperity, SC 29127. Please feel free to reach out to me at trevor@dutchforkbaptist.org or 803.834.0256 for any question you may have. Terry will be cooking so bring your appetites! This is just a night of fellowship. No agenda! Come as you are and leave having been sharpened by other men! I pray you have a great week.

I love y’all
Trevor
